Center PI Björn Högberg speaks abaout a recently published study in Science on swedish TV news "Rapport". Björn Högberg comments on the finding by researchers at Johns Hopkins University, USA of a DNA engineered yeast chromosome being biologically active in living yeast . This shows possibilies of tailor made genetic yeast variants for efficient production of recombinant pharmaceuticals. A milestone that also opens up a novel concept of future genetic engineering in other eukaryotic systems.
